About the Black Andalusian
Black Andalusians are the homozygous no-dilution birds thrown by blue-to-blue matings — roughly a quarter of each hatch — carrying no copy of the dilution gene, so the underlying black base shows through solid and glossy rather than diluted to slate. They are not a recognised show variety, but breeders prize them: pairing a black bird back to a splash, or using blacks to deepen the line, is the classic route to richly coloured, well-laced blues. Otherwise they share the breed's hardy, white-egg-laying Mediterranean character.
