About the Splash Andalusian

Splash is the double-dilution Andalusian: carrying two copies of the dilution gene, the bird is near-white or off-white, broken by irregular slate-blue or black splashes scattered through the plumage. Like black it is a by-product of blue breeding — about a quarter of every blue-to-blue hatch — and is not a recognised standard variety, but it is invaluable in the pen, since splash mated to black reliably produces all-blue offspring. It carries the same hardy, active, white-egg Mediterranean traits as the rest of this rare breed.
