About the Black Appenzeller Spitzhauben
The black is the plain, unspangled member of the trio of original colours, carrying a solid black plumage with a lustrous beetle-green sheen and ideally no other colour. It stands out against the spangled varieties precisely because it lacks the spangle, yet keeps every Appenzeller hallmark — the pointed forward crest, small V-comb and blue legs — along with the breed's active, tree-roosting, white-egg-laying character.
