About the Gold Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben
The gold spangled swaps the silver's white ground for a rich gold-red, while keeping the same black V-shaped spangle at the tip of each feather. It is one of the three original Spitzhauben colours imported by Kurt Fischer in 1953 and, like the silver, is standardised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain. Otherwise it is pure Appenzeller — crested, V-combed, a keen forager that lays white eggs and dislikes being shut in.
