About the Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben
The silver spangled is the original and most familiar variety: a pure silvery-white ground colour with each feather tipped by a distinct black spangle, preferably small and V-shaped rather than laced or round. One of the three historic colours (with gold spangled and black) and the most widely kept, it carries all the breed's hallmark traits — forward-sweeping crest, small V-comb, and an active, free-ranging temperament that lays white eggs and resists confinement.
