About the Buff Australorp

A warm, even golden-buff plumage variety of the Australorp, recognised by the Poultry Club of South Africa among its extra colours but not by the APA, Australia, the Entente Européenne or the Poultry Club of Great Britain. As a result it is rare outside South African breeding programmes and seldom seen in the UK, where black, blue and white are the standardised colours. It shares the breed's dual-purpose frame and strong light-brown egg production.
