About the Blue Barnevelder
A self (solid) blue Barnevelder, evenly slate-blue throughout rather than laced, produced by the same single blue dilution gene that softens black to blue — so it does not breed true and yields blue, black and splash offspring. Recognised in large fowl on the Continent by the Entente Européenne but not part of the lacing-focused British standard, where a laced breast is required for show. Still a hardy, dual-purpose, dark-egg layer.
