About the Blue Double Laced Barnevelder
Shows the same double-laced pattern as the brown bird, but the blue dilution gene turns the green-black lacing to soft slate-blue over the red-brown ground. Created by Dutch and German breeders, its genetics are awkward — blue never breeds true, so clutches throw blue, black and splash, making evenly laced birds difficult to fix. A standardised UK colour that keeps the breed's productive, winter-laying nature.
