About the Double Laced Barnevelder

The classic and principal Barnevelder colour: rich reddish-chestnut hens whose every body feather is outlined twice in glossy green-black, giving the famous double-laced effect, against a darker head and hackle. Cocks are largely black with a red-brown saddle and breast rather than full lacing. This is the variety on which the breed's UK reputation rests, prized alongside its deep brown winter eggs.

What Assured Pure means

The seller pays a small premium on every Assured Pure sale to stake their reputation on breed purity. In return:

  • They confirm their birds are bred to recognised standards.
  • Their listings rank above standard ones.
  • Misrepresenting purity risks suspension from Broody.

This is the seller's commitment, not an independent Broody inspection.
