About the Partridge Barnevelder
The breed's original colouration before double-lacing took over: an intricate partridge pattern of brown, black and cream that echoes the wild game bird, with the cock carrying the typical red-gold hackle and saddle. It fell from favour in Britain once the double-laced became principal, though it persisted into the 1990s and was admitted to the American standard in 1991. A rare colour today on the same hardy, brown-egg dual-purpose frame.
