About the Silver Double Laced Barnevelder
Replaces the chestnut ground of the standard bird with silver-white, so the double black lacing reads as sharp black-on-silver instead of black-on-brown. Developed largely by Dutch breeders (drawing on silver-pencilled Wyandotte blood) and recognised relatively recently — bantams around 2009, large fowl by 2013 — it is one of the harder colours to breed cleanly and good examples remain scarce. Carries the same hardy, brown-egg-laying Barnevelder constitution.
