About the Blue Brahma

The Blue is the self-black Brahma carrying a single copy of the incompletely dominant blue gene, which dilutes black to an even slate-blue, often with darker lacing. Because blue is heterozygous it never breeds true — blue-to-blue matings yield blue, black and splash chicks. It is recognised as a self colour in standards such as Australia's, set off handsomely against the breed's huge feather-legged frame.
