About the Dark Brahma
The Dark is the most strikingly sex-dimorphic Brahma: hens carry an intricate silver-pencilled coat (a silver-grey ground finely ruled with concentric black pencilling), while cocks are near-black with silvery-white striped hackles and saddle and white-shouldered wings. Like the Light, it is one of the two original Brahma colours standardised by the APA in 1874. The delicate hen pencilling makes it one of the harder colours to breed to standard.
