About the Black Breda
The original and still most common Breda colour, black is the form early writers described almost exclusively and the one most established in the Netherlands. A good bird shows a solid, deep self-black throughout with the characteristic green sheen, all the more striking against the breed's bare combless head, cavernous nostrils and feathered legs with vulture hocks. As with all Bredas it is a rare, upright old Dutch fowl laying white eggs.
