About the Cheshire Blue
The "blue" in Cheshire Blue is the egg, not the bird: she is predominantly white, carrying a Legbar-style crest and often some darker flecking through the plumage. Both the crest and the blue egg trace back to the Legbar in her parentage — the same blue-egg gene behind Britain's other back-garden blue layers. Suppliers differ a little on output, quoting 260 to 280 sky-blue, medium-to-large eggs through a strong first year. As an unstandardised hybrid neither her markings nor the precise egg shade breed true.
