About the Birchen Cochin

Birchen Cochins are mainly black-bodied with a silvery-white head and hackle, each neck feather carrying a narrow black centre stripe, and a fine silver lacing edging the upper breast feathers. It is a US bantam-Cochin variety, standardised by the APA in 1977, rather than a UK large-fowl colour. The contained silver-on-black detail gives a crisp, formal look over the breed's heavy feathering.
