About the Black Cochin
A self-black Cochin: every feather a solid, beetle-green-sheened black from the deeply feathered shanks and toes upward, with no lacing or other markings. One of the four original Cochin colours standardised by the APA in 1874 and recognised for large fowl by the Cochin Club of Great Britain. The dense sheen sets off the breed's vast soft cushion of feather, making it a classic exhibition self-colour.
