About the Blue Cochin
A self-blue Cochin: an even slate or pigeon-blue body, each feather often finished with a darker blue lacing, the colour carried right down the feathered shanks. Blue is a recognised UK large-fowl Cochin colour and was standardised by the APA in 1977; because it arises from the heterozygous blue gene it does not breed wholly true, throwing black and splash alongside blue offspring. The soft blue tone flatters the breed's mountainous, ball-like feathering.
