About the Brown Red Cochin
Brown red is the gold counterpart of birchen: a predominantly black body offset by orange-gold to lemon head, hackle and (in cocks) saddle, with gold lacing on the upper breast. It is a US bantam-Cochin variety standardised by the APA in 1977 and is not part of the UK large-fowl standard. The fiery gold-on-black contrast stands out boldly across the breed's profuse soft feather.
