About the Columbian Blacktail
Named for its Columbian plumage pattern: a clean chestnut-brown body offset by black-tipped tail and wing feathers and, often, a dark necklace at the throat. This patterning comes straight from her Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex hybrid breeding, the Sussex lending the Columbian restriction of black to neck and tail. Beyond looks she's a calm, hardy bird and a prolific layer of brown eggs, with day-old chicks that can be colour-sexed.
