About the Black Crèvecœur
Black is the original and standard colour of the Crèvecœur — the only variety recognised in the UK and US — a solid, beetle-green-sheened black across body, full crest and beard, set off by a bright red V-comb, face and wattles over slate-blue to black legs. This is the classic form of this endangered French crested table breed, laying white eggs and kept today mainly for exhibition.
