About the Blue Croad Langshan

Blue is the newest and rarest of the Croad Langshan colours, arising when the black and white varieties are crossed and only recognised as a standard variety in 1987. The plumage shows the characteristic even blue-grey of the blue dilution gene, which (being heterozygous) does not breed fully true, throwing some black and splash offspring. Beneath the colour it is the same tall, lightly leg-feathered heavy breed and capable layer of dark, bloom-coated eggs.
