About the Silver Columbian Delaware
The Delaware's sole variety wears a near-white plumage with the Columbian restriction, but distinctively replaces the usual solid black on hackles, primaries, secondaries and tail with crisp barring rather than self-black markings (hence 'silver/barred Columbian'). The pale, light-barred neck and tail come from a dominant silver/white background interacting with the barring gene, leaving largely clean white body feathering once prized for spot-free broiler carcasses. It carries the breed's calm, dual-purpose, large-brown-egg traits and Recovering conservation status.
