About the Cuckoo Dorking
The Cuckoo is the barred Dorking, each feather crossed with soft, irregular bands of pale and dark slate-grey that give a blurred cuckoo pattern rather than crisp barring. It is among the scarcer Dorking colours and was a comparatively late addition to the standards (recognised by the APA in 1998). Beneath the distinctive plumage it is the same ancient deep-bodied table breed on short five-toed legs, laying white eggs.
