About the Dark Dorking
Often called the Coloured Dorking, the Dark is the largest of the varieties and the one from which the Silver Grey was selected. The cock is darker and richer than the Silver Grey, with deep maroon and black markings, while hens are a darker pencilled grey-brown with salmon breasts. As the heaviest colour it best embodies the breed's old reputation as London's premier white-fleshed table bird, on the typical short five-toed legs and laying white eggs.
