About the Red Dorking
The Red Dorking is a deep, dark-feathered variety: the cock has rich red hackle and saddle and a dark red back and wing-bow over black breast, wings and tail, while hens are a warm brown-red with gold-and-black hackles. It tends to be smaller-bodied and tighter-feathered than the other colours, and is one of the rarer Dorkings (added to the APA Standard only in 1995). It keeps the breed's five toes, white eggs and dual-purpose table character.
