About the Cuckoo Dutch Bantam

The Cuckoo carries the barring gene, giving every feather alternating bands of pale grey-white and darker blue-grey across the whole bird rather than a self colour. Unusually for the breed, Cuckoo (with the related Crele) is an exception to the standard slate leg: cuckoos have light legs that may carry a few dark flecks. It is one of the patterned colours standardised in Britain.
