About the Wheaten Dutch Bantam
In the wheaten Dutch Bantam the hen carries a soft, even body of warm wheat to pale buff, slightly darker over the back and tail, giving the variety its name; the cock is a black-breasted red type with rich orange-red hackle, back and shoulders over a black breast and tail. Like all Dutch Bantams it keeps the breed's tiny, well-proportioned frame, five-pointed single comb, white earlobes and slate-blue legs. Wheaten is one of the lighter colours and is less common in UK pens than the original partridge.
