About the Chamois Penciled Friesian Fowl
The chamois pencilled is the most distinctive Friesian colour and the variety most UK breeders have kept since the breed arrived in the 1980s. It shows a warm buff-yellow ground feather, each one finely marked with concentric pencilling in a paler shade of the same yellow-buff rather than black, giving a delicate self-toned pattern found in no other breed. As with all Friesians, it is a small, active, hardy white-egg layer and an able flier.
