About the Gold Spangled Hamburg
The Gold Spangled swaps the silver bird's white ground for a rich coppery-bay gold, each feather still finished with a single greenish-black moon-shaped spangle at the tip. Like the Silver Spangled it traces to the Lancashire 'Mooneys' and Yorkshire 'Pheasant fowl' of northern England rather than the Continent. It shares the breed's rose comb, active flighty temperament and glossy white eggs, and is kept today mainly for exhibition.
