About the Silver Spangled Hamburg
The Silver Spangled wears a silvery-white ground feather tipped with a single lustrous greenish-black spangle, giving a crisp polka-dot effect; it descends from the old Lancashire 'Mooneys', named for their round moon-shaped marks. It is the most popular and most readily found of the Hamburg colours, and the pattern is said to occur in no other breed. Like all Hamburgs it is a neat rose-combed, flighty forager laying glossy white eggs, kept chiefly for exhibition.
