About the White Houdan
The White Houdan is a solid pure-white bird, a comparatively modern variety developed in America by F.D. Baermen by crossing Mottled Houdans with White Polish, and added to the APA Standard in 1914 (forty years after the mottled). The clean white plumage sets off the same distinctive Houdan features — full crest, beard, butterfly comb and five toes. It is rarer than the mottled and, with the breed as a whole, is endangered and kept largely for showing.
