About the Hy-Line Brown

The standard and only colour of this commercial hybrid, the Hy-Line Brown wears warm ginger-brown plumage with paler amber tips to wing and tail. A genetically sex-linked brown layer, she is bred purely for performance rather than show: friendly, docile and economical on feed, she comes into lay early and produces over 300 uniform brown eggs per cycle with strong shells, settling equally well into a garden flock or commercial barn, cage-free and free-range systems.
