About the Icelandic
The Icelandic (landnamshaena) has no single standard colour: as a true landrace it was selected only for utility, so a flock is a kaleidoscope of plumage colours and patterns, single or rose combs, varied shank colours, and some birds crested. Faces range white to light yellow, never red, and pure birds never carry leg feathering, muffs or beards. This genetic diversity underpins its hardiness, strong foraging and reliable white-to-cream winter eggs.
