About the Dark Indian Game
The Dark is the original and defining colour of the Indian Game, and the standard against which the breed's massive, broad-breasted conformation was fixed. The female carries chestnut-mahogany ground with neat black double lacing on each feather, while the male is a lustrous black with brilliant beetle-green sheen and bay markings. Genetically it lacks the dominant gene that lightens the other varieties, giving the deepest pigment. As with all Indian Game, it is a poor layer of small tinted eggs kept for its exceptional meat type, now a priority rare breed.
