About the Black-Tailed Red Japanese Bantam
A black-tailed bird: rich even red covers the head, hackle, back, breast and body, contrasting sharply with a solid black tail (the top tail feathers often edged red), echoing the black-tailed buff and black-tailed white patterns but on a red ground. It is one of the standardised Japanese Bantam colours, giving the low-slung, big-tailed Chabo a bold two-tone look. Less common in hatcheries than the buff or white black-tailed forms.
