About the Cuckoo Japanese Bantam

A barred (cuckoo) pattern of alternating light and dark bands across each feather, giving a soft grey-banded overall look; cockerels usually appear lighter and more clearly marked than the darker hens. The barring is carried over the breed's compact, short-legged body and large upright tail.
