About the Black Kraienkoppe
The Black Kraienkoppe is a solid, lustrous black bird rather than one of the duckwing patterns, its plumage often showing a green sheen in sunlight. Black-feathered Kraienkoppe were already common in the 1920s and have regained favour with breeders in recent years; on the breed's small walnut-combed, upright frame it remains a rare, hardy free-ranging layer of tinted eggs.
