About the Black La Flèche
Black is the original and best-known La Flèche colour, and the only variety recognised by the American Poultry Association (admitted 1874). The plumage is solid, beetle-green glossy black laid over a slim, upstanding frame, set off by the breed's red 'devil's horn' V-comb, white earlobes and dark lead-grey legs. It is the standard against which the others are measured, and remains critically rare worldwide.
