About the Silver Lakenvelder
The Silver is the classic and, in most countries, the only standardised Lakenvelder: a clean silver-white body set against a glossy solid-black head, hackle and tail, with black inner webs to the flight feathers and a pale blue-grey undercolour that lends the silvery cast. The crisp 'belted' contrast only fully settles after the third moult, so young birds often show black flecking in the white. A small, alert, hardy forager laying pale tinted eggs, now a threatened rare breed.
