About the Gold Legbar

The Gold Legbar is the original variety, recognised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain in 1945 and bred from brown Leghorn cocks over Barred Plymouth Rock hens. It shows gold-toned, sex-linked barred plumage with a rich golden-buff neck and breast, and unlike the crested Cream it is plain-headed and lays cream-white eggs. Its sex-linked barring makes day-old chicks autosexable, the trait that defines the breed.
