About the Pile Leghorn
The Pile (Pyle) Leghorn is essentially a duckwing in which black is replaced by white, leaving a clean red-on-white bird: cocks carry rich red hackle, back and saddle over a white body, hens are white with a salmon breast. Pyles were bred in Britain in the 1880s. The bright red-and-white plumage makes it one of the more eye-catching recognised colours of this active white-egg layer.
