About the White Leghorn
Pure, lustrous white throughout, the White Leghorn is the original and by far the best-known variety — the bird whose laying ability was used to build most modern commercial white-egg hybrids. Its single-combed white hen is the archetypal 'classic chicken' and remains the heaviest layer of the family, typically around 280 white eggs a year. White earlobes, yellow legs and beak complete the picture.
