About the Wheaten Malay
In the wheaten Malay the hen is the distinctive sex, clothed in soft pale golden-wheat body feathering with a darker head and tail, while the cock resembles a black-red. It is recognised by the American Poultry Association — the wheaten male being among the more recent additions to the APA Standard — but is not one of the colours listed by the Poultry Club of Great Britain. Like all Malays it is a rare, hard-feathered giant kept for presence over production.
