About the Birchen Marans

The Birchen (silver-black) is the silver counterpart of the copper/brown-red pattern: a black bird whose head, hackle and lancets carry sharply contrasting silver-white, with fine lacing running into the breast in both sexes. Recognised in the French standard as Noir-Argenté, it is a scarce colour and lays the breed's dark brown egg.
