About the Copper Black Marans

The Black Copper (Copper-Black) is the breed's best-known variety: a predominantly black bird with a green sheen, set off by rich copper-red feathering on the head, hackle and, in cocks, the shoulders and saddle. In the British standard it is the one colour carried with lightly feathered shanks (as in the French type), and it is among the strongest producers of the very darkest Marans eggs.
