About the Blue Minorca

Blue is the rarest of the UK-recognised Minorca colours, showing the classic slate-blue plumage with darker lacing typical of the blue dilution gene - meaning it does not breed wholly true, throwing black and splash alongside blue offspring. First noted in Devon around 1890 and popularised by fancier Herbert Whitley in the 1920s, it carries the breed's signature white earlobes, tall elegant frame and large white eggs.
