About the Black Modern Game
A self (solid-colour) variety: uniformly black with a green-beetle sheen across the tight, hard plumage, lacking the contrasting hackle or breast markings of the patterned colours. The dense single colour throws the breed's defining silhouette — long neck and legs, upright iron-tapered body — into sharp relief. One of the thirteen colours recognised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain.
