About the Wheaten Modern Game

Named for the hen: a pale, even wheat-coloured female from golden to light chestnut with little black beyond the tail, paired with a black-breasted red cock. It is the wheaten-hen counterpart to the pencilled partridge black-red, a softer, lighter female type, carried on the same tall willow-legged exhibition bird. Listed among the thirteen Poultry Club of Great Britain colours.
