About the Brown-Red Old English Game
The brown-red replaces the bright red of the black-red with darker, lemon-to-orange-brown hackle and saddle laced or striped on a near-black ground, the cock showing a black breast often streaked with brown. A long-established colour recognised in both Carlisle and Oxford standards, it gives this ancient British game fowl a richer, more sombre tone than the classic black-red.
